Lemonade Stand Photo Session
Behind the scene look at a portrait session for a baby with a lemonade stand.

Time for a lemonade stand photo session! The original idea was to go outside on a sunny day and set up on the grass using natural foliage as the backdrop. Living in Florida, we are used to hot weather, however this week it was more of an unbearable heatwave. On top of the heat, there was also a snake in the exact area I had planned for the photo session. Seeing that snake motivated me to move the photo session indoors.
The baby’s mom said her daughter loved the colors yellow and pink, which inspired me to create the scene above.
With the lemonade stand all set up and ready to go, I asked mom to place her baby in the center of my display. The baby did a thorough inspection of the display. First she touched the stand to make sure it was sturdy.
Then she moved towards the right to inspect some of the lemons located towards the edge of my setting, causing me to photograph an incomplete background.
We coached her back towards the center and she decided to crawl in the opposite direction, which exposed my incomplete background even more.
She also inspected the printed sign by pulling it off the stand to take a closer look.
This inspired (forced) me to make a quick set up change.
I quickly dismantled my lemonade stand and turned it into a sitting crate. Of course I made it comfortable by adding a small pillow and cover. She seemed to really enjoy this change as evidenced by this smile.
I handed her a lemon to play with and the final image was way better then I expected. Thank you baby for showing me that my original set up needed some improvements.
We absolutely loved this final image!
If you want to photograph children, patience is key! I LOVE Portrait Photography!
Hope you enjoyed this session as much as I did.
Life is short, capture the moments that will bring you comfort, joy and happiness in your later years!
